NBTA President and CEO Kevin Maguire, CCTE, and Vice President Michael Lyons, CCTE, have created a blog as another way to communicate with NBTA members and the broader corporate travel industry. Appropriately entitled At the Gate, the blog will allow members to engage in informal discussions about current industry issues and business travel events around the world, allowing for all to share their personal and professional thoughts and opinions.
Launched on September 21, 2007, At the Gate already contains several entries that touch on the outcomes of various international events, including Education Days in Canada and the NBTA Asia Pacific Regional Conference held last month, as well as a preview of the NBTA 2008 forecast and a commentary on some early developments to result from U.S.-EU open skies.
Kari Schroeder of Dav El Chauffeured Transportation and Chairman, North Central Business Travel Association, thinks At the Gate is a "great idea!" In comments she posted to the blog on October 8, she wrote, "In today's fast-paced world, this is a wonderful way members can ’informally’ share thoughts/ideas with each other on topics that are immediately affecting business and travel alike."
