New Role of Weather in NextGen 

 

Browsing U.S. news headlines in the past year, there is no shortage of stories about frustrated passengers caught in air travel delays. Approximately 70 percent of those delays are attributed to poor weather conditions, said the Joint Planning and Development Office (JPDO) Director Charles Leader in a joint statement before the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, Subcommittee on Aviation, in May 2007.

NBTA Helps Ensure Timely Redress for Travelers Wrongly Placed on Watch Lists   

 In a November 2007 survey to NBTA U.S. travel manager Members, NBTA found that most travel managers were not pleased with the current U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Travel Redress Inquiry Program (TRIP), which allows travelers to make inquires and seek redress when they believe their names have been wrongly placed on a government security watch list. Few were aware of the program, and those who were criticized the timeliness of the process.

Delegates at China Business Travel Conference See Benefits of Data Collection

To make the most cost effective policy decisions and vendor negotiations, travel managers need to know which data is most necessary to collect, and they must understand employee behavior to do so, said Kevin Smith, Corporate Services Manager, Global Supply Management, Delphi Corporation.

Speaking about the importance of metrics in travel management at the 2008 Corporate Travel & Technology World China conference in Shanghai, April 9, Smith told attendees that communicating with employees is the key to receiving the best feedback.
