Aviation Heads Shed Light on the Industry Today and Tomorrow
Even though the airline industry is facing many challenges, including fuel costs, environmental issues, and consumer complaints, according to two CEOs of major international airlines, the industry is managing just fine.
During the Airline CEO Panel at the 2008 NBTA International Convention & Exposition, panel moderator, Emmy award winning journalist, and NBC Today Show Travel Editor Peter Greenberg asked the panelists – Richard Anderson, CEO of Delta Air Lines; and Montie Brewer, CEO of Air Canada – about the current fuel crisis, referring to it as the “big, bad guy” of the industry.

NBTA Asia Pacific Boosts Allied Leadership
NBTA Asia Pacific recently appointed seven corporate travel supplier professionals to its new Allied Leadership Committee (ALC). The Committee will serve as representatives for the association’s Allied (travel supplier) members, working enhance relationships with corporate travel professionals throughout the region.
In an effort to seek ALC members, the association’s board in May called for expressions of interest from current Allied members in the planning for current and future association direction. Strong feedback was received and, after careful consideration, the ALC was officially founded.

NBTA Remembers Industry Leader, Colleague and Friend
This month, NBTA joins the travel industry in mourning the loss of industry expert and dear friend Stevan Porter, President of the Americas for InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG). Porter, 53, was hospitalized in July with a reoccurrence of cancer and passed away August 7 at his home in La Canada, California.
NBTA receives the news of Porter’s passing with great sadness, but will continue to remember his character with fondness and his legacy with honor and appreciation.
