Against the backdrop of a recent government purchasing card scandal in Brazil, the Latin American corporate travel community gathered in São Paulo to discuss best practices, learn the latest industry developments, and network with peers at the third annual Latin American Corporate Travel and Technology Exchange (LACTTE), hosted by NBTA and the Brazilian Business Travel Association (ABGEV).

Industry Experts Discuss Economic, Environmental Concerns at Canadian Conference
As more than 225 travel managers and suppliers gathered in Toronto on April 2 and 3 for NBTA Canada’s 4th Annual Conference & Exhibitor Showcase, questions about the ways that the economic slowdown and growing environmental concerns will affect the business travel industry were on everyone’s minds. The conference provided some answers and a chance for presenters and attendees to discuss the issues.

“Mass customization,” may sound like an oxymoron, but it is one of the most sweeping and powerful trends in the marketplace. At its essence, it means providing each customer with flexibility and options such that he or she becomes an active participant in designing or modifying the product they purchase. It is quite different than personalization, in which a company knows a great deal about each customer and uses that data to offer them the product or service they are most likely to purchase.

NBTA Encourages Membership to Go Green for Earth Day
As environmental preservation has taken a leading role in the travel industry and companies are striving to “go green,” Earth Day, recognized annually on April 22, has more meaning to NBTA members this year than ever before. NBTA’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Committee is encouraging NBTA members to educate their employees about what CSR means, and, in doing so, they have gathered to share with the membership some examples of ‘green” initiatives NBTA member companies are undertaking to encourage their employees to unite in protecting the planet on Earth Day and every day.
