Monica Gardner |
Monica Gardner has been appointed the new Chair of the NBTA Asia Pacific Board, a volunteer position. Gardner is a longtime member and leader of NBTA Asia Pacific. She was an active member of Australasian Business Travel Association (ABTA), which merged with NBTA in March 2007 to become NBTA Asia Pacific; she has since continued in a volunteer leadership role by serving on the NBTA Asia Pacific Board, the association’s advisory board for the Asia Pacific region. Gardner currently manages the portfolio of travel commodities for Queensland State Government.

NBTA has also hired Karen Davies, CBTE, to fill its Asia Pacific Regional Director position. In this role, she will help to expand and enhance the association’s offerings to the business travel community in the Asia Pacific region, as well as aid NBTA Members in the facilitation of potential business opportunities in this growing market.
Davies brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in the business travel industry. She was a member of NBTA Asia Pacific for many years and recently served as a volunteer leader on the NBTA Asia Pacific Board. Her most recent position was as Project Manager at the University of Sydney, which she held for more than six years. In that role she recently conducted a full review of the University’s travel management practices.
“Karen is the perfect candidate to serve NBTA Asia Pacific members as executive director and is a great addition to the NBTA family,” said Connors. “With her extensive background in the regional managed travel industry and her years of experience with the association, Karen is best positioned to drive value for NBTA Asia Pacific members and the regional business travel community.”
