Alexandria, VA (September 19, 2006) – Corporate travel professionals gather today in Cincinnati to partake in the National Business Travel Association’s (NBTA) Fundamentals of Business Travel Management course. The two-day course is focused on teaching professionals new to the industry, or those not familiar with industry, the basics of corporate travel.  Upon completion of the course and an online exam, participants earn the designation of CTE (Corporate Travel Executive).

NBTA President and CEO Suzanne Fletcher commented, “Education is vital to the advancement of all professionals, regardless of their expertise level.  NBTA is pleased to offer its members three distinct education programs targeted towards professionals just starting out in the corporate travel industry to seasoned pros.  The Fundamentals of Business Travel Management program is ideal opportunity for those not familiar with the industry to enhance their knowledge and skills.”

The Fundamentals of Business Travel Management is offered for administrative assistants, coordinators, travel managers new to travel management and regional/district sales managers for travel suppliers.  Topics covered in the session include cost containment, policy development, traveler safety and security, travel trends and program benchmarking.

NBTA has previously presented the course at the National Travel Forum, THETRADESHOW, the NBTA International Convention & Exposition and onboard Royal Caribbean’s Freedom of the Seas.

In addition to the Fundamentals of Business Travel Management, NBTA offers the Certified Corporate Travel (CCTE) program, the industry’s sole designation, and the Global Leadership Program (GLP), the industry’s only master’s-level course offered in partnership with the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School.  For more information regarding education programs offered by NBTA, please visit www.nbta.org/education.
