Alexandria, VA (April 13, 2006) – The National Business Travel Association (NBTA), the leading provider of education in the corporate travel industry, is pleased to announce upcoming dates for the association’s Fundamentals of Business Travel Management course. The Fundamentals of Business Travel Management is designed specifically for professionals new to the business travel industry.

Suzanne Fletcher, president and CEO of NBTA, commented, “The Fundamentals of Business Travel Management is the starting point for professionals looking to gain knowledge and understanding about the managed travel industry. This program, paired with NBTA’s Certified Corporate Travel Executive, the industry’s only certification program, and Global Leadership Program, the industry’s only master’s-level course, offers a complete education path for travel managers and suppliers interested in developing professionally in the industry.”

The Fundamentals of Business Travel will be offered at the following locations and dates:

Fletcher added, “The Fundamental of Business Travel Management, introduced at NBTA’s 2005 Convention, received excellent response from the business travel community in its first year, and NBTA is pleased to expand its offering so that all professionals new to the industry may take advantage of its educational benefits to further their careers and proficiency.”

In addition to these sessions, the Fundamentals of Business Travel will be offered online beginning this spring, for professionals interested in taking the course in a non-classroom format.

The program is ideal for administrative assistants and coordinators tasked with managing part of a company’s travel program, travel managers new to the profession, finance and procurement professions with oversight of travel, meetings planners and regional/district sales managers who concentrate on the business travel market. The Fundamentals of Business Travel Management will focus on maximizing cost containment strategies, improving productivity, creating a managed travel culture within a company, ensuring traveler safety and security, developing travel policies and calculating the return on investment for a managed travel program.

Upon successful completion of the coursework and exam associated with the Fundamentals of Business Travel Management, participants will receive a certificate and designation as a Corporate Travel Executive (CTE). More information on the program, including how to register, can be found at www.nbta.org/Education/Fundamentals.

Members of the media interested in participating in any of the offerings of the Fundamentals of Business Travel Management should contact Caleb Tiller at pr@nbta.org or 703-684-0836, ext. 138. Availability is limited, so NBTA will work with interested reporters on a case-by-case basis.
