Houston, TX (February 2, 2006) -- The National Business Travel Association (NBTA), the leading provider of education and research in the corporate travel industry, is pleased to announce the first offering in 2006 of Core Week 1, the cornerstone of the association’s Certified Corporate Travel Executive (CCTE) program.  Twenty-nine corporate and government travel managers and suppliers are expected to participate in the session, which begins today in Houston.  The CCTE is the only certification available for corporate travel managers and suppliers in the industry.

Christopher Cope, Account Director for Global Accounts for BridgeStreet Worldwide and an Allied Member of NBTA, is a recent enrollee in the CCTE program.  He commented, “After sponsoring several people from Best Western in my previous role as managing director of worldwide sales, I am now in a position to benefit from the education myself.  Everyone speaks very highly of the program and the experience as a whole.  Through it, I hope to gain valuable insight into the complexities and challenges confronting travel managers today and use those teachings to my benefit as I continue to advance my career.”

To earn the CCTE designation, participants must complete two Core Week sessions, lasting five days each, and five one-day electives. The program is designed for business travel management professionals who want to enhance their knowledge, skills and productivity. Carried out in conjunction with the University of Houston Conrad N. Hilton College of Hotel and Restaurant Management, CCTE is recognized throughout the corporate travel industry as a designation of excellence and professionalism.

NBTA’s CCTE program, open to anyone with two years of current experience in the business travel field, helps students:

  • Develop and apply systems thinking and approaches to improve their management techniques
  • Improve their company's economic and strategic goals
  • Achieve personal excellence and function more productively within their corporate cultures
