Alexandria, VA (January 25, 2006) – The National Business Travel Association (NBTA), the leading source of education for corporate and government travel managers and suppliers, will host a web-based seminar, titled “Taking on the Strategic Meetings Management Challenge: Guidelines for Travel Managers,” on Tuesday, January 31 at 2:00 p.m. ET.

NBTA President and CEO Suzanne Fletcher remarked, “Corporate travel managers’ roles are constantly developing.  Through this evolution, many travel managers have taken on the responsibility of strategically managing their companies’ meeting spend.  This NetSmart session is designed to help NBTA members address the challenges of meetings management and learn how to become more efficient in this business function.”

Cheryl Hoffard, manager of meeting services for The Schwan Food Company, and Lisa Palmeri, director of consulting services for OnVantage, will conduct the session.  Both speakers possess significant knowledge on executing strategic meetings management programs, centralizing meetings programs and controlling the procurement process to achieve company objectives.

This course is part of NBTA’s NetSmart online learning forum that allows members to participate in interactive education sessions targeted towards the hot topics in the corporate travel industry.  The next NetSmart session, titled, “So, You Want to Go CTD?”, will take place on March 15.  Members of the travel industry interested in becoming involved in NBTA should visit www.nbta.org for more information.
