Salt Lake City (December 7, 2005) – The National Business Travel Association (NBTA), the premier education association in the corporate travel industry, is hosting a day-long seminar in Salt Lake City today to educate travel professionals on employee performance evaluation.  The course is an elective for NBTA’s Certified Corporate Travel Executive (CCTE) program, the industry’s only professional designation.

Kristi Long, CCTE, senior director of Education and Research for NBTA, commented, “It’s the time of year when managers across all industries are focusing on evaluating employee performance.  With the economy improving, it is vital for managers to work effectively with their teams to encourage employee retention.  By attending this session, travel managers will learn to develop evaluation systems that are fair, reduce tensions between the manager and the employee, and create a more productive work environment.”

The session is divided into three sections, each focusing on the three major themes of creating a positive work atmosphere: effective employee evaluations, team building and employee retention.  Throughout the interactive session, attendees will learn how the employee and supervisor should prepare for the review, learn how to set goals and make commitments during the sessions, gain knowledge of where most teams succeed or fail, discover tips and techniques to maintain top talent and examine the top reasons why employees leave or stay with an organization.  The session will be conducted by Greg Churchman of Churchman Consulting Solutions.

To earn the CCTE designation, participants must complete two Core Week sessions lasting five days each, pass an exam following each of those sessions and take five one-day electives. The program is designed for business travel management professionals who want to enhance their knowledge, skills and productivity. Carried out in conjunction with the University of Houston Conrad N. Hilton College of Hotel and Restaurant Management, CCTE is recognized throughout the corporate travel industry as a designation of excellence and professionalism.

Upcoming CCTE programs include:

  • Core Week 1 -- February 2-7, 2006, Houston
  • Core Week 2 -- March 5-10, 2006, Houston
