Alexandria, VA (October 17, 2005) -- The leading corporate travel association, the National Business Travel Association (NBTA), announced today it is working with one of the world’s leading travel health practitioners to provide NBTA members with resources to proactively prepare their companies’ for the potential avian flu threat. Dr. R. Bradley Sack, M.D., Sc.D., Director of the Johns Hopkins International Travel Medicine Service, will deliver tools to help corporate travel professionals better understand the disease and the steps their companies can take in an effort to avoid danger.

“NBTA members are currently assessing the risk to their companies and the strategic role they can play as travel managers in helping minimize that risk,” said NBTA President and CEO Suzanne Fletcher. “We are pleased to work with Dr. Sack to provide clear information that will cut through speculation to assist travel managers in that effort.”

Dr. Sack will record a seminar on avian flu that will be made available to NBTA members on the association’s website, and he will provide an FAQ document that NBTA members can use to inform their companies’ internal stakeholders, including c-level executives and travelers.

Fletcher continued, “Travel managers have a unique roll as the key source of travel-related information for their companies and for business travelers. As concern about avian flu grows, NBTA is giving its members tools to help them fulfill that role.”

Members of the media interested in accessing the recorded seminar or FAQs should contact Caleb Tiller at 703-684-0836, ext. 138.
