Alexandria, VA (October 5, 2005) – The National Business Travel Association (NBTA), the voice of the corporate travel industry, is accepting applications from its supplier members interested in securing web addresses with the “.travel” domain through an expedited process. NBTA Allied member companies, whose primary business is related to travel and tourism, can apply at www.nbta.travel to pre-authenticate URLs using the new .travel top-level domain.
Bill Connors, CTC, NBTA executive director and COO, commented, “NBTA is pleased to be the only business travel association offering its members pre-authentication for dot-travel domains. A dot-travel web address allows travel suppliers to further their online branding and communications strategies.”
NBTA is part of the original group of associations partnered with the Tralliance Corporation that maintains the .travel domain registry. Applicants must fulfill a set of criteria outlined by Tralliance in order to be eligible for a .travel domain. By registering through NBTA’s website, supplier members will expedite the registration process through NBTA’s verification of their primary business. Dot-travel domain names will be granted on a first come, first serve basis. The domain names will be directly related to the business name and/or operation of the applicant. Pre-authentication is a free service for NBTA supplier members.
NBTA Allied Members can learn more about the .travel domain on the NBTA website or by contacting authenticate@nbta.org.
In addition to providing pre-authentication to its Allied members, NBTA is taking advantage of the new .travel top-level domain. NBTA and its foundation, the Institute of Business Travel Management, both have new .travel web addresses: www.nbta.travel and www.ibtm.travel. The new URLs redirect users to the existing NBTA and IBTM sites, expanding the organizations’ web presence and more directly connecting it to the travel industry.
The National Business Travel Association is the source for critical information on the business travel industry. For more than 35 years, NBTA has dedicated itself to the professional development of its members through advocacy, education and training, and networking opportunities. NBTA represents over 2,500 corporate and government travel managers and travel service providers, who collectively manage and direct more than $170 billion of expenditures within the business travel industry.
