Alexandria, VA (September 7, 2005) – The National Business Travel Association (NBTA) announced today it will make a donation to the American Red Cross to support Hurricane Katrina relief efforts. The $12,500 donation represents a contribution of $5 on behalf of each of NBTA’s 2,500 corporate and government travel managers and travel service provider members. To assist the corporate travel industry in addressing the business travel-related challenges posed by the disaster, NBTA has launched a Hurricane Katrina Resource Page to provide travel updates and information related to the storm.

Suzanne Fletcher, president and CEO of NBTA, remarked, “NBTA is pleased to support the relief effort to help those devastated by the storm regain their lives. Unfortunately, this kind of event gives corporate travel professionals an opportunity to serve their companies in a time of crisis. On behalf of our members, NBTA is honored to take the additional step of donating directly to the important relief work of the Red Cross.”

NBTA’s Hurricane Katrina Resource Page serves as a source of information for corporate travel professionals, many of whom are heavily involved in efforts to contact displaced employees and set up housing and transportation for them. Available at www.nbta.org/hurricane, the page provides information and links to resources on hotel status; airport closures and airline policies; car rental policies; relief efforts; convention centers and CVBs; and NBTA’s travel management resources to help members meet current and potential future company needs in the aftermath of the storm. NBTA has also launched a survey and provided members with a new email address – hurricane@nbta.org – to gather information on member needs related to the hurricane. NBTA’s future efforts will reflect information gathered from members on how NBTA can best assist them in this challenging time.

Fletcher continued, “NBTA has been the leader in providing Katrina-related information to the corporate travel industry, and the Hurricane Katrina Resource Page launched last week gives our members one central place to find news and information as they work to address the challenges they face today and into the future.”

The National Business Travel Association is the source for critical information on the business travel industry. For more than 35 years, NBTA has dedicated itself to the professional development of its members through advocacy, education and training, and networking opportunities. NBTA represents over 2,500 corporate and government travel managers and travel service providers, who collectively manage and direct more than $170 billion of expenditures within the business travel industry.
