San Diego, CA (August 16, 2005) -- Hanna Murphy, vice president of Siemens Shared Services, was presented with the Icon Award in a ceremony at the National Business Travel Association’s (NBTA) 37th Annual Convention and Trade Show. The elite award, the highest honor awarded by NBTA, is given by NBTA in recognition of those whose contributions to managed travel have made them industry icons.
NBTA President and CEO, Carol A. Devine, CCTE, remarked, “It is an honor to present Hanna with this award in recognition of her pioneering work as a travel manager, her support of NBTA and her dedication to NBTA’s foundation, the Institute of Business Travel Management.”
Murphy manages Siemens global travel program through an internal corporate travel department with 87 staff members in 43 of the company’s subsidiaries. In her quest to provide comprehensive travel services to Siemens’ business travelers, Murphy developed an agent education and certification program to ensure exemplary services were being offered by her department. Murphy has held many leadership positions in NBTA and in its foundation, the Institute of Business Travel Management (IBTM), most recently as the Vice Chair of the IBTM Board of Trustees and Chair of the IBTM Research Committee.
