The National Business Travel Association (NBTA), the leading provider of corporate travel management education, today announced it will award a new designation – the Corporate Travel Executive, or CTE – to those who successfully complete the Fundamentals of Business Travel Management course and the CTE exam. The CTE adds to NBTA’s professional development offerings to create a track for corporate travel professionals throughout their career.

“NBTA’s new CTE program will provide the ideal opportunity for those new to travel management to learn the basic principals and practices of this key business function,” said NBTA President and CEO, Carol A. Devine, CCTE. “It will also give them a chance to earn recognition for that education with the CTE designation.”

The focus of the CTE program is to educate travel managers on the primary components of managing a companies’ travel program, including driving savings, using technology to increase efficiency, benchmarking metrics and travel safety.  Coursework can be completed through one of three convenient options: online, using an independent studies package or during a two-day classroom session. Coursework is followed by an online exam. Upon successful completion of the exam, participants receive the CTE designation.

The exam will be available this fall. Those who completed the Fundamentals of Business Travel Management at the NBTA Convention and Trade Show in 2004 and 2005 will be eligible to take the exam and earn the CTE designation.

The CTE is the first level in NBTA’s three-tiered professional development program. NBTA also offers the CCTE, or Certified Corporate Travel Executive, which has long been the recognized designation for high-level travel professionals. NBTA’s foundation, the Institute for Business Travel Management (IBTM), provides the only master’s-level education for corporate travel professionals, the Global Leadership Program.

Devine concluded, “This latest education offering from NBTA solidifies the association as the leading provider of education for corporate travel professionals.”

The National Business Travel Association is the source for critical information on the business travel industry.
