San Diego (August 15, 2005) -- The National Business Travel Association (NBTA) and the Australasian Business Travel Association (ABTA) today announced the expansion and extension of an existing strategic partnership designed to promote the development of travel management in the Asia/Pacific region.

Under the terms of the new three-year agreement, NBTA will be ABTA’s exclusive United States based business travel association partner and major sponsor. ABTA buyer members will benefit directly from this continued affiliation by retaining their full direct membership in NBTA.

“NBTA is thrilled to support ABTA’s efforts to advance travel management practices in the Asia /Pacific region. A major part of NBTA’s mission is to promote the value of travel management, and in ABTA we have the perfect partner,” said Carol A. Devine, CCTE, NBTA president and CEO. “Additionally, with growing globalization of the economy and of many corporate travel programs, the intercontinental networking opportunities of this partnership reflect the reality in which members of both groups work.”

“Extending and expanding the existing partnership with NBTA gives ABTA a strong partner in its mission to promote and raise the status of managed business travel. The partnership will also continue to increase the value of ABTA membership even further for at least three years” said ABTA Chair Chris Telfer. “While this strategic alliance more closely aligns the efforts of NBTA and ABTA for the next three years, both organizations are also committed to exploring how the relationship can be further expanded in the long term to benefit members of each group.”
