Bill Connors, CTC NBTA Executive Director & COO |
Alexandria, VA (June 15, 2005) -- Bill Connors, CTC, executive director and COO of the National Business Travel Association (NBTA), was named this week to the Next Generation Air Transportation System (NGATS) Institute Management Council. The Council will be responsible for industry involvement in the work of the Joint Planning & Development Office (JPDO) as JPDO develops the next generation air transportation system.
The NGATS initiative was created by the VISION 100 - Century of Aviation Reauthorization Act, signed into law last year. VISION 100 called for the creation of JPDO, a joint project of the Federal Aviation Administration, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, the Department of Commerce, the Department of Defense, the Department of Homeland Security, the Department of Transportation, and the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy. JPDO coordinates the air transportation related research of these agencies.
“NBTA is honored to have the opportunity to represent the interests of the business travel community on the Industry Management Council of the Next Generation Air Transportation System Institute in its work with the Joint Planning and Development Office to ensure our future air transportation needs are met,” said Connors. “The work of the NGATS Institute and JPDO is exciting because it is designed to bring together leaders from government and the private sector to address shared challenges for mutual benefit. NBTA has long promoted the value of private sector input into the government initiatives that impact travel. This project is a unique opportunity to show how that kind of interaction can work.”
