Alexandria, VA (June 6, 2005) -- Bill Connors, CTC, executive director and COO of the National Business Travel Association (NBTA), will testify at the House Committee on Homeland Security, Subcommittee on Economic Security, Infrastructure Protection and Cybersecurity hearing, titled, “The Promise of Registered Traveler,” on Thursday, June 9, 2005, at 11:00 a.m.

Connors remarked, “NBTA has long supported the Registered Traveler program and believes national availability of the program would improve both the travel experience and the productivity of American workers on the road for business. As the representative of the corporate travel industry, I am pleased to provide NBTA’s input to the House Committee on Homeland Security to assist it in further improving and expanding the program.”

The Registered Traveler program is designed to provide passengers who have undergone voluntary background and biometric screenings with accelerated admittance through security checkpoints at airports. Five airports across the country are currently participating in the pilot program, with plans recently announced to launch a test at Orlando International Airport. The objective of this hearing is to gauge the current program’s effectiveness and determine what actions are needed to improve program efficiency and further expand its implantation at the nation’s airports.

The National Business Travel Association is the source for critical information on the business travel industry. For more than 35 years, NBTA has dedicated itself to the professional development of its members through advocacy, education and training, and networking opportunities. NBTA represents over 2,500 corporate and government travel managers and travel service providers, who collectively manage and direct more than $170 billion of expenditures within the business travel industry.
