San Antonio, TX (May 9, 2005) -- The National Business Travel Association (NBTA) announced today it has reached an agreement with The Institute for Supply Management (ISM), the world’s largest association of purchasing and procurement professionals, on an enhanced partnership to provide benefits to their respective members that would encourage participation in both associations’ activities. The announcement was made during ISM's 90th Annual International Supply Management Conference and Educational Exhibit, in San Antonio.

(R) NBTA E.D. & COO Bill Connors

Under the agreement, reached in a meeting between NBTA Executive Director, Bill Connors, CTC, and ISM CEO, Paul Novak, members of either group will be able to join the other association at a significantly reduced cost. Additionally, members of either association will be able to attend the annual convention of ISM or NBTA at respective member rates. Finally, numerous NBTA educational programs will count toward maintaining ISM’s Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM) program.

Novak commented, “Recent ISM research has shown that 70 percent of ISM members have some responsibility, directly or indirectly, over their company’s travel procurement. By partnering with NBTA, ISM can provide our members who have those responsibilities with targeted educational and membership opportunities.”

Carol Devine, President & CEO of NBTA said, “Procurement has had a growing influence in the corporate travel management arena, and the partnership with ISM is one example of NBTA expanding its member benefits to address this trend. Additionally, NBTA will launch it’s first ever ‘Procurement Track’ of seven seminars at this year’s NBTA Annual Convention and Trade Show in San Diego in August, and I hope many of our ISM friends will attend.”
