Philadelphia, PA (October 12, 2004) -- Corporate travel professionals gathered here last week to earn elective credits in the industry’s only certification program, NBTA’s Certified Corporate Travel Executive (CCTE). Participants, who are working toward the CCTE certification or completing requirements for maintaining certification, uniformly praised the classes on Tactical Meetings Management and Strategic Meetings Management.
Gary Polito, CCTE, Bose Corporation Manager, Corporate Travel, said after the Strategic Meetings Management class, “I am working with a meeting planner colleague to define the structure of a corporate-wide meetings program. The information provided in this class helped me by giving me background knowledge on how to implement a strategic meetings program and giving me specific tools to use in the process, such as a contract template.”
Melinda Ryals, CCTE, Manager, National Travel, WebMD Corporation, took both classes. She said, “I have been tasked with implementing a strategic meetings program, and these courses gave me the tools to get started. I now know what data I need to use, how to gather it and how to evaluate it. And, I will be able to train colleagues on what I learned.”
NBTA’s CCTE program is the only certification program for business travel management professionals who want to enhance their knowledge, skills and productivity. It is offered in conjunction with The University of Houston Conrad N. Hilton College of Hotel & Restaurant Management. Earning the CCTE designation requires completion of two core weeks of education over two years, as well as completion of five electives, such as the Tactical Meetings Management and Strategic Meetings Management classes. To continue to hold the designation, Certified Corporate Travel Executives must successfully complete an elective each year.
The next offering of Core Week 1 of the CCTE program will be held at the University of Houston Conrad N. Hilton College of Hotel & Restaurant Management, November 11-16, 2004. For CCTE program information, including scheduling and registration, see the NBTA Web site.
