Alexandria, VA (August 27, 2004) -- The National Business Travel Association (NBTA) will hold a NetSmart seminar on September 2, 2004, at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. ET entitled “GDS Deregulation – Gauging the Changes.” Presenters Andy Menkes, CTC, President, Partnership Travel Consulting, and Will Tate, Vice President, Management Alternatives, will examine the challenges travel managers face following deregulation of the Global Distribution System (GDS) business and in light of Northwest Airlines’ recent move to charge for bookings made via the GDSs.
“NBTA is offering its members an opportunity to think proactively about managing change in a new distribution environment,” said Carol A. Devine, CCTE. ”This forward-looking seminar and the summit with Northwest Airlines are designed to provide travel managers with solutions.”
The seminar, open to NBTA Direct Members (travel managers) and Direct Members of NBTA Chapters, will cover the impact of the deregulated environment on various components of travel management, such as capture and transfer of data, costs and technology. The cost of participation is $29.00 for NBTA Members and $39.00 for NBTA Chapter Members. Participation in each session will be limited to 100, and a CD recording will be available for the same price as seminar participation for those unable to attend the 11 a.m. or 2 p.m. ET broadcasts.
