Alexandria, VA (May 11, 2004) – The National Business Travel Association (NBTA) will co-sponsor the 2nd annual National Travel and Tourism Summit, "Securing the Future of Travel and Tourism," tomorrow in Washington, DC. The event, which NBTA is co-hosting with the National Chamber Foundation, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, and the Travel Business Roundtable, will gather senior government officials, business leaders and the media to address the need to promote travel to and within the United States and facilitate mobility as we continue to enhance security.

NBTA’s participation in this event is part of the association’s expanded efforts to promote the value of travel, both business and leisure, to the nation’s economy. In addition, NBTA hopes to bring increased attention to concerns surrounding the US VISIT program and new visa and passport regulations that could seriously obstruct business travel to and from the United States.

Speakers at the event will include Thomas J. Donohue, President and CEO, U.S. Chamber of Commerce, and Jonathan M. Tisch, Chairman, Travel Business Roundtable, Secretary Norman Y. Mineta, U.S. Department of Transportation and a host of presidents and CEOs from associations and companies including Walt Disney Parks and Resorts, Distilled Spirits Council of the United States, American Hotel and Lodging Association, International Association of Convention and Visitor Bureaus, Air Transport Association, and National Restaurant Association.
