Alexandria, Virginia (March 18, 2004) --- The National Business Travel Association (NBTA) will help raise awareness among high-school students of career and job opportunities in the business travel industry as part of a new alliance with the National Academy Foundation (NAF).
NBTA, the source for critical information on the business travel industry, and NAF, a national educational foundation dedicated to advancing personal and professional success for young people, share a commitment to promote business travel as a career and to create opportunities for young people to enter and advance through the profession.
Bill Connors, NBTA Executive Director and COO, announced that NBTA and the foundation have signed a Memorandum of Understanding that calls for NBTA members to support and participate in various NAF education programs and advisory boards.
Opportunities include internships, mentoring and job shadowing; financial and in-kind contributions; familiarization experiences; and scholarships. The foundation, in turn, will promote NBTA educational initiatives to its national network of administrators, teachers and business partners.
“We’re delighted to have this opportunity to support the efforts of NAF, which combines the knowledge of leaders in education, business and government to better prepare public high school students for their futures,” Connors said. “The foundation’s three core themes – travel & tourism, information technology, and finance, obviously are important disciplines in the business travel management sector.”
The National Business Travel Association is the source for critical information on the business travel industry. For more than 35 years, NBTA has dedicated itself to the professional development of its members through advocacy, education and training, and networking opportunities. NBTA represents over 2,400 corporate travel managers and travel service providers, who collectively manage and direct more than $170 billion of expenditures within the business travel industry.
