Alexandria, VA (July 30, 2002) --- Kevin Iwamoto, President of the National Business Travel Association (NBTA) and Global Airline and Car Supplier Manager for the Hewlett-Packard Company, has been named Travel Manager of the Year by Business Travel News (BTN). Iwamoto was named BTN’s 18th Travel Manager of the Year at a private reception during NBTA’s 34th Annual Convention and Trade Show in Salt Lake City.

According to BTN, Iwamoto’s innovative work on Hewlett-Packard’s airline contracts, GDS audits and online car rental auctions were important factors in his selection for the award. His leadership of NBTA during challenging times for the business travel industry was also a reason for this recognition.

"I am honored to receive this award," said Iwamoto. "The efforts to help NBTA, my company, and this industry make it through these difficult times have been very rewarding in terms of personal growth."

Iwamoto’s efforts to establish new industry standards through the formation of new NBTA committees and task forces, to close the gap between the association's allied and direct members, to bring cohesiveness among the various local chapters and to represent the entire industry on Capitol Hill were also noted as reasons for this award.

"I want to express my appreciation to my company and global travel team colleagues," concluded Iwamoto. "Many of my achievements could not have happened without their expertise, support and understanding."

The National Business Travel Association, established in 1968, represents over 2,400 corporate travel managers and travel service providers. NBTA members manage and direct more than 70% of expenditures within the business travel industry. NBTA is committed to the professional development of its members and offers educational and training opportunities. It is the source for critical information on the business travel industry.
